Terzani school — At the via Di Dio primary school, a warm moment of welcome and sharing, attended by education councillor Marina Baietta and Francesco Bottene, President of the City Council.

On the morning of Saturday 10 October the traditional Remigini Festival (welcoming the new first-graders) took place at the via Di Dio building of the Terzani school. The event drew a large turnout of families and the city administration, represented by education councillor Marina Baietta and by the President of the City Council Francesco Bottene (also present as a parent).

The morning opened with a special welcome for the first-year pupils, accompanied by music played by students of the lower secondary school's music programme. After parading with their teachers, the newcomers sang a song before one of the most moving moments of the day: the traditional handover of the "big pencil" from the fifth-graders to the first-graders, a symbol of the baton passed between school generations.

Councillor Marina Baietta gave an institutional greeting to the whole school community, offering the youngest a striking metaphor:

«Imagine school as a great ship ready to set sail. At the helm is your Head Teacher, supported by a crew of teachers and all the school staff. You are the travellers on this adventure, and curiosity is your compass. Never be afraid of making mistakes: school is a safe place where an error is not a failure, but a step towards knowledge.»

A special thought went to the older students, with a reminder of the value of culture as an essential tool of freedom:

«Studying does not mean chasing a grade in the register, but building day after day the foundations to freely choose your future and think for yourself.»

The meeting stressed the fundamental importance of the educational alliance between school, families and the City, essential to guarantee a calm and stimulating path of growth for all pupils.

The large turnout of parents and relatives confirmed once again that local schools are a vital, cohesive point of reference for the whole Abbiategrasso community. The city administration wishes everyone at the school a good, peaceful and fruitful school year.
