Canal dry-ups 2026: calendar published by the Est Ticino Villoresi Consortium

The Est Ticino Villoresi Reclamation Consortium has published the calendar of autumn 2026 dry-ups for the Villoresi, Naviglio Grande, Bereguardo, Pavese and Martesana canals.
This is important information for our territory: dry-ups allow for the maintenance of banks and hydraulic works, but they impact the daily lives of farmers, fishermen, cyclists, and those who live along the towpaths. For Abbiategrasso, the reference is the Naviglio Grande, which will remain completely dry downstream of Castelletto di Abbiategrasso from September 21, 2026 to March 29, 2027, while in the section from Turbigo to Castelletto, no dry-up is foreseen (with flow rate still reduced).

What to remember
- Total dry-ups may affect the entire course of the canals or only a part of it.
- In case of 'no dry-up', the flow rate will still be reduced.
- Dates may be postponed or extended due to meteorological and operational reasons.
- During maneuvers and throughout the dry-up period, it is forbidden to obstruct the canal bed and to navigate, unless authorized by the Consortium.
